The Elsie Heinz Trauma Recovery Fund has been established to provide survivors of trauma, specifically those recovering from the effects of narcissistic abuse, with access to life-changing coaching and support. Elsie’s life was defined by her profound ability to connect with others, nurture those around her, and create spaces where people felt valued, seen, and safe. Through this fund, her legacy of kindness and community-building will continue to inspire and empower survivors on their journey to healing and self-discovery.

A Life Lived with Love and Compassion

Elsie Heinz (1938–2023) was a woman of extraordinary warmth and vitality. Born on a homestead farm in Veregin, Saskatchewan, she developed a deep compassion for life at an early age, caring for animals and tending to her community. Throughout her remarkable life, Elsie brought people together—from her small Ukrainian and Russian Doukhobor community to the bustling cities of Hong Kong, Taipei, and Mexico City.

She was an advocate for the vulnerable who created a sense of belonging wherever she went. A devoted wife, mother, and friend, her greatest joy was nurturing and uplifting those around her. She believed in the power of connection and lived her life as a beacon of hope, love, and resilience. Her adventurous spirit and unwavering dedication to others remain a constant source of inspiration.

Elsie is survived by her husband, Merrill; son, Doug Heinz of San Francisco, CA, and his wife, Lisa Patterson-Heinz; brother, Len Wlasichuk of Winnipeg, MB, and his wife, Janine Wlasichuk; sister, Mildred Tolton of Sechelt, BC; grandchildren, Landon and Brennan Aquilina of Dublin, CA; as well as her beloved nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Empowering Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse

The Elsie Heinz Trauma Recovery Fund is specifically dedicated to supporting people who have been targeted for narcissistic abuse whose finances are compromised. Survivors of this form of trauma often experience profound psycho-emotional, and relational wounds due to prolonged exposure to manipulative-, controlling-, and emotionally abusive behaviors. Narcissistic abuse frequently causes complex trauma, including symptoms such as diminished self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, chronic anxiety, and difficulty establishing healthy boundaries and relationships.

This fund will provide survivors with trauma-informed coaching designed to address these challenges. Trauma-informed coaching recognizes the unique impacts of narcissistic abuse and creates a safe, supportive environment in which survivors can regain their sense of self, rebuild confidence, and establish a vision for their future. By focusing on empowerment, resilience, and healing, the fund aims to give survivors the tools they need to navigate their recovery with hope and clarity.

The Elsie Heinz Trauma Recovery Fund embodies her enduring belief in the transformative power of love, kindness, and personal growth.
