April Nisan Ilkmen, LMFT, is a doctoral candidate at Adler University’s esteemed Department of Couple and Family Therapy. Under the expert guidance of renowned Dr. Otto Kernberg, she completed her training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, shaping her expertise in the field. April’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Ottawa, followed by a Master of Arts in Couple and Family Therapy from Adler University.
Currently, April is an Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Illinois, showcasing her dedication to providing valuable support and assistance to families and couples in need. Embodying a global perspective, April’s upbringing in Turkey, residency in Canada, and current U.S. dwelling have enriched her understanding of diverse cultures and backgrounds. Fluent in English, Turkish, and French, she possesses the ability to connect with clients from various linguistic backgrounds.
Driven by her passion for advancing the field of Couple and Family Therapy, April has embarked on Adler University’s prestigious Ph.D. program.
